In the wake of the recent announcement for a feasibility study by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, local MPs Mark Prisk and Sir Alan Haselhurst have met today with senior officials at Network Rail.
During the meeting held at Westminster the MPs set out their constituents' concerns about the pressing need to upgrade the track infrastructure into London Liverpool Street.
Both MPs spelt out the need for four tracking and urged Network Rail to update their evidence of population growth, to strengthen the business case for this substantial investment.
Afterwards Sir Alan and Mark said "We both sense there is a growing momentum for serious evaluation of upgrading our line, which would significantly benefit our constituents and local businesses. We're determined to press on and win this argument."
